Dallas Caviness, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Dallas Alson Caviness, Jr. was born on November 2, 1946 in Moore County, North Carolina.  He was the son of the late Dallas Caviness, Sr. and Eliza Williams Caviness. He started his walk with Christ at an early age and united with Bellview AME Zion Church in Robbins, NC where he remained a faithful member. He served as the Chairman of Trustee Board, Minister of Music, Missionary, member of Men’s Boosters, and the Male Chorus.

Dallas, who was affectionally known as “D.A.”, transitioned peacefully from this life on Saturday, September 21, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Sr., and Eliza Caviness; three sisters: Shirley Caviness Brower, Brenda Caviness Mickens, Mary Ann Caviness Turner; and three brothers: Clarence Caviness, Robert Caviness, and Larry Caviness.

He was united in marriage to Jannis Caddell on July 2, 1967. Jannis was his partner in life for 52 years at the time of his transition to his heavenly home.?? This union was blessed with two sons, Chad Tyron and Keith Alson. He took great pride in raising them as men. Dallas graduated from Pinckney High School in Carthage, NC and also attended technical college in Sanford, NC.

Dallas retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Asheboro, NC. He was a founding member of the Brothers of the Horizon Motorcycle Club serving as Vice President. He did not meet a stranger and was a great advisor to young and old. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle and had a passion for cooking.

He was the proud Papa to his two grandchildren, Jurnee Elisha and Brayden Alson. Jurnee was “Papa’s baby”; and to his delight, Brayden was born on Papa’s birthday.

He leaves to cherish his legacy his devoted and loving wife, Jannis, sons, Chad (Daphanie) of Charlotte, NC, Keith (Nicole) of Charlotte, NC; one granddaughter, Jurnee; one grandson, Brayden; one sister, Christine Caviness Walker (Douglas) of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Mitchell Caviness (Nadine) of Goodyear, AZ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
