On early Monday morning Evelyn M. Cole took hold of her wings and departed this earthly life at 12:26am. Our beloved was born on January 27th, 1955 to Bobbie Ritter and Harrison Malloy. She was proceeded in death by both of her parents and her youngest child Ajul Cole. Evelyn attended Pickney High School while being raised by her grandparents Blanch and Curtis Ritter. She worked a very short while at Pinehurst Hotel and Country Club as a kitchen employee. Most of her time was spent as a homemaker.
Evelyn loved to cook, braid hair, tell jokes, laugh and to be in the comfort of others. Being around her was never a dull moment. She would tell you how stupid you were for making her laugh so hard. One of her favorite sayings were, “YOU STUPIIIIID” and then would commence to laughing. She loved to laugh and talk a lot of smack. Underneath all of that she had a heart full of love and welcoming arms to anyone that wanted to visit and stay with her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband James R. Cole of New York, NY, two daughters -Tarsha Cole of Fayetteville, NC; Lena Cole-Ugbonwa (Son-in-law: Aggrey Ugbonwa) of Douglasville, GA; two sons – James Cole (Boot) of Elizabeth City, NC and Kawamie Cole (Shawn) of Clinton NC; One sister – Darlene McDowell (Brother-in-law: Joseph McDowell) of Fayetteville, NC; One brother -Gregory Hines of Maryland; One very special niece – RoShawn Ritter-Jenkins; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, relatives and friends.
