Frolin John Hatcher was born to the late Almead Hatcher Flemmings and the late James and Brenda Hatcher on February 11, 1942, in Cumberland, Virginia. And transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior on July 20, 2022, at the age of 80 years old at his home.
He was a graduate of Luther P. Jackson High School. And was a member of Center Union Baptist Church in Cumberland, Virginia under Pastor Horace Monocure leadership until he joined Zion Grove AME Zion Church in Eagle Springs, North Carolina under Pastor Margo Gaddy leadership.
Frolin, Pop, Hatch, or Fat Cat as he was often called. For more than 55 years, greeted golfers, guests, members, friends and co-workers each of whom was family to him at the Pinehurst Resort and Clubhouse. His soothing voice, welcoming smile and contagious laugh were the essence of Pinehurst. And was inducted into the Ambassador of the Year Quarter Century of Service. And he loved his family, co-workers and his sports.
Frolin is proceeded in death by his mother Almead Hatcher Flemmings. James and Brendel Hatcher. His daughter Karen Baldwin, his brother Sylvester Flemmings and a sister Claudette Hill.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife, Helen Dorothy Cole Hatcher. And the fifteen children that he fathered and was the extended father too. Jackie Horton, Pamela Bagian (Erick), Robert Smith (Sandra), Frederick Smith, Tonja Smith, Terence Smith (Gloria), Derrick Andrade (Shelia), Holly Smith, Dwayne Hatcher (Lica), Vivian Andrade, Tavian Preston, Tyrone Moore (Malaya), Monisha Hailey, David Person (Gwen), and Mary Ann Legrand.
His brother Lonnie Flemmings, a sister Wanda Evans (Clyde) and Laura Tusim (Walter). Sister in laws Ollie Cooper. Brother in laws, James Robert Cole (Evelyn), Johnny Cole, Larry Cole (Kelly) and Roger Cole. And a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. And The Pinehurst Resort family, especially Larry Goins, Mr. Mack, Bill Burke and Mack Jones.
