Jennie Bee (Marshall) Smith “Rat” was born to James Marshall and Mary Sellers Marshall in Wadesboro, North Carolina on December 6th, 1949. She transitioned from this life on May 1, 2023, at her home.
Jennie B. worked for 20 plus years at Lynn Dean Hosiery in Biscoe, NC a job she really loved. She worked as a pressor until the plant closed. Her favorite job however and the one she cherished the most was taking care of her family. Aunt Rat, Aunt Jennie B, Grandma, Nannie and GG were just some of the many names those who loved her most called her. If she was not cooking, or cleaning she was looking after those she loved the most. Her grandchildren kept her on her going and she loved having an opportunity to watch them grow as well as many of her great grandchildren.
Jennie is preceded in death by her brother J.B. Marshall (Ned), and her sisters Virginia Capel and Lily Diggs.
Jennie leaves to cherish her memory, three brothers, Horace Marshall, Johnny Lee Marshall and James Thomas Marshall (Maria); two sisters Emma Mae McCleod, and Eva Mae Bennett (Mike) Raleigh, NC.
Seven children, Vanetta Marshall (Edward) of Mt. Gilead, NC; Henry Lee Smith Jr. (Tess), of the home; Sherry Smith Lane (Mike), of Jackson Springs, NC; Roseann Harris (Clinton), of Wadesville, NC; Rosemarie Smith Little (Anthony); of the home, Steve William Smith; Hookerton, NC, Mary Smith Richardson (Keith) of West End, NC; and Darias Collins (America) of Jackson Springs, NC.
23 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. One special friend Yvonne McBride. And her children's father (daddy) Henry Benjamin Smith.
