Jimmy Ray Shamburger

Jimmy Ray Shamburger was born on March 3, 1943, in Robbins, N.C. to the late James Elgin Shamburger and Lonia Shamburger. He entered eternal rest on August 4, 2025. He was preceded in death by; two brothers, Henry Shamburger Sr. and Willie Lee Shamburger; five sisters, Rosa Maness, Helen Shamburger, Eunice Boone, Donna Mance and Lola Mae Nobles; and one sister-in-law Olillian “Teeny” Shamburger.

Jimmy Ray (as he was affectionately known) was a hard worker. He took whatever job that was available to ensure that his family always had a roof over their heads and food in the house. He built a career as a long distance and local truck driver. He also worked in construction operating heavy machinery. He left the construction industry and returned to Robbins, N.C. where he worked for Purdue in Candor, N.C. until his retirement.

Jimmy Ray was always able to tell you a story that would make you laugh, and he never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his outrageous sense of humor and outgoing personality. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting memories. Jimmy Ray recently accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he was at peace when he went home to be with the Lord.

He leaves to cherish his memory; three daughters, Jamie Morgan (Timothy) of Suffolk, VA, Karen Fox (Rodney) of Richmond, VA and Shilita Shamburger of Columbia, S.C. Two stepsons, Darryl Thomas Sr. of Suffolk, VA and Vernon Thomas Sr (Joyce) of Highpoint, N.C., 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
