“Celebration of Life”
Johnny Lee Dowdy Sr, (JD), son of Inez Mosley and Archie Dowdy, peacefully departed this life on November 1, 2021 at the age of 68, at his home in Robbins NC.
JD was raised in Robbins, NC for the majority of his young adult life. He attended Pickney High School and obtained his GED. Johnny relocated to New York as a teenager and began his journey in the health care field. JD played drums for his high school, practicing Karate, playing basketball and singing. He started a singing group with his siblings, called the “Dowdys”.
Johnny loved life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Later in life, Johnny moved back to Robbins, NC where he met and married Shirley Brower. He and Shirley remained in Robbins with their children. Johnny worked at Spring Mills for over 15 years. He later retired from American Growler where he worked as supervisor.
Johnny Dowdy was proceeded in death, by his wife Shirley Brower Dowdy, father: Archie Dowdy, mother: Inez Mosely: daughter: Amy Dowdy Welsh: son: Johnny Lee, Dowdy JR.
He is survived by: daughters: Nancy Dowdy Adams (Joseph), Porshia Womble (Tim), and son, Jamar Dowdy, Grandchildren: Alissandra Dowdy, Sydney Adams, Domonique Welsh, Bianca Welsh, Timothy Womble, Jocelyn Adams, Daudre, Shay, Le’Lah, Keijon, Sion, and a host of family, friends and loved ones.
