Melvin W, Davis, son of the late John Barrett and Grace Davis, and the husband of Doris H. Davis, was born in Robbins, N.C. on November 12, 1939. He departed this life’s journey peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on July 23, 2019.
Melvin’s passion was farming, sports, community service and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his brother Bob Barrett and his son Melvin “Peaches” Davis, Jr.
Melvin leaves many memories to, his wife of 56 years, Doris H. Davis of the home. Five children, Clara Thurman of Akron, Ohio Mary Charles Moyd (Ted) of Lady’s Island, SC, Robert Davis (Kim) of Robbins, NC, Gracie “Tink” Bond (Bucky) of Robbins, and Wilbert “Dude: Davis (Shannon) of Greensboro, NC.
Eleven grandchildren, Gina (Kinston), Doris, Drew (Melisa), Webb (Jasmine), Brandi, Tiara, Tyler, Kiana, Ayanna, Jaxson, and Jayse.
Ten great grand, Jourdan, Kasari, Brea, Cadan, Gavin, Kendall, Telia, Alanna, Zariana and Liliana.
One sister, Catherine McCullough of Newark, NJ, one nephew, Maurice McCullough of Kennesaw, Ga, one niece, Annette McCullough of Newark, NJ, two goddaughters, Regina Wall and Jeanette Shamburger. Two godsons, Ronnie Lambert and Albert “Meatloaf” Shamburger. And a host of family and friends.
