Miranda Martin Baldwin was born to the late Cal Martin and his wife, Miranda Martin, on May 21, 1925.
At an early age, she grew to love God deeply, and she joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Biscoe, NC. She attended Mount Moriah faithfully throughout her youth until her union with her husband, Rudy T. Baldwin, with whom she bore 3 children. After she was joined in holy matrimony to her husband, to whom she was married for 64 years, she then joined Hood Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church in Biscoe, NC where she and her family attended regularly. She held various positions at Hood Chapel over many years. She served as a mother of the church, deaconess, lay council, life member of the missionary society and member of both the gospel and senior choirs.
Miranda attended Montgomery County Schools, and she worked at Clayson’s Knitting Hosiery Mill in Star, NC where she was a mender and a clipper until she retired.
Miranda had a gift of hospitality and service, for she loved helping and caring for people. She helped to raise many children: her own, family and those in her local community. She loved her family, which she called her pride and joy. She also enjoyed sewing for herself and others.
On Sunday, December 9, 2018, God called and the angels escorted Miranda to her eternal home in heaven, where her parents, Cal and Miranda; her husband, Rudy; her daughters, Marie and Betty; her brothers, Hardy, Callie, and Wimily; and sisters, Lena and Ethel welcomed her with open arms. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Nancy Baldwin of Biscoe, NC; her granddaughter, Rebecca (Tracy Jones), who she raised as her daughter from birth, of Eagle Springs, NC; her other granddaughter, Cathy (Leon Pemberton), who she raised following her daughter’s (Marie) death, of Mt. Gilead, NC; great grandsons, Joshua Baldwin of Biscoe, NC and Ja’Mari Pemberton of Mt. Gilead, NC; step-great grandchildren, Jaquires Pemberton of Mt. Gilead, NC, Traquan Jones of Eagle Springs, NC, and Jasmine Little of Biscoe, NC; adopted son, Robert Baldwin of Biscoe, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Miranda will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
