Phillip Thomas Obituary

Phillip Lee Thomas, son of the late Carlee and Odessa Thomas was born on September 23, 1956 and departed this life November 13, 2020 peacefully at home.

Phillip was born and raised in Robbins, North Carolina where he was taught about hard work, discipline and life skills. He moved to Durham, NC and attended North Carolina Central University. He resided in Durham for several years before moving back to Robbins. Upon his return, he attended Sandhills Community College and obtained his degree in electronic engineering, while maintaining employment.

In 1995 Philip moved to New Bern, NC where he began his career at Moen Industries for 20 years. After many years of being away from family, he had a desire to move back home. He transferred his job to Moen Industries in Sanford, NC, where he worked until his retirement in 2019. While living in New Bern, Phillip was a faithful member of Daysprings Ministries and enjoyed attending church and sporting his many suits. He was an avid bible reader; he never left home without reading his devotion. Phillip loved fishing, gardening and spending time with his cousins and friends. He loved his family especially his three grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Thomas and a sister Vermestine Thomas. It has left a void in the hearts of those left to continue life without him.

Memories of him will be treasured by one son, Kelly Alston (Tina), three grandchildren, Dakarius, Samia, and Kamden. One brother Gerald Brower (Brenda), two sisters, Gwen Gillis and Leitha Frye (Jr.). Six nieces, Latonia, Yolanda, Tara, Tekia, Ciere Regina. Three nephews, Terrill, Maury, Demaris and a host of great nieces and nephews. Three aunts, Beulah Shamberger, Eula Johnson and Willa Howard. And many cousins, friends and family.
